ABOUT
Founded in 2008, The Good Plate is on a mission to provide fresh, healthy, wholesome, homecooked meals for busy people in the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA metro area. Our passion is nutrition. Our culinary talent is making healthy food taste great. Comfort food, some have even said. Certified Chef Teri Hull handcrafts your meal using only the highest quality, seasonal product available. The food is fully cooked. The only effort on your part is the few minutes needed to warm it. And we deliver right to your home or office.
To back up the 'healthy food that tastes great' guarantee Chef Teri consults with a nutrition expert and certified holistic health coach for menu planning. We use only top quality ingredients. Our fish is wild-caught, chicken is raised locally and humanely, and we support local farmers.
How does the menu work?
We offer three to four entrées a week. The menu changes weekly or bi-weekly. A la Carte items are available for a longer time, generally through the season. The menu is crafted to highlight the best of the season. We strive to offer a mix of lean meats, fish and vegetarian options, all of it healthy!
How do I order?
View the menu, set up an account and order right here online. Minimum order for delivery is $50.
How far in advance do I need to order?
We respectfully ask that orders be placed the morning of the day before requested delivery time. For example, orders for Monday delivery be placed by Sunday morning. Why? Our food is made to order, not pre-cooked sometime during the week.
When will you deliver my food?
We deliver on Mondays and Tuesdays on a first come first served basis. When your order is received we'll call or email to confirm delivery date and time. We can occasionally honor delivery requests for Wednesday through Friday as schedule permits.
What does a meal consist of?
Most entrées are a protein, starch or grain and a vegetable. We also offer soups, salads and a children's menu. All menu items are sold in double or family (4 person) portions. Which means you can have the pasta while your spouse enjoys the chicken. We no longer serve single-sized portions and apologize for any inconvenience.
What payment method do you accept?
Cash, check, and all major credit cards are welcome.
Do you deliver to my neighborhood?
Please use the zip code finder on the bottom of the homepage to find out. If we don't currently deliver to your neighborhood chances are we can deliver to your office instead.
Can I have multiple meals delivered on the same day?
Absolutely, we encourage it. Because of our all-natural preservation method our meals have a slightly extended shelf life.
Can I place a recurring order or sign up for a subscription?
Yes. Whether you want to order a meal once a week or once a month we are happy to book the order up front. Order the same meal every time or mix it up and try something new. Customizable meal plans coming soon.
Can I make substitutions?
We're happy to accommodate most substitutions on sides at no cost. Please request in the comment section as you order. We can often take special requests on entrée items too, just ask us.

CULINARY PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the necessity of food: to nourish body and soul. My love harkens back to childhood when my Grandmother baked pies using her own apples, my parents fed us from our own garden and birthday cakes were built from scratch. I subscribe to the farm to table mentality. The fewer the hands touching food from earth to table the better. I constantly seek out the most top quality ingredients and I support local farmers. Two words sum it all up: wholesome and healthy.
PRESERVATION
We maintain fresh, out of the oven quality by using Modified Atmosphere (MAP) tray sealing equipment. The natural process is commonly used in food preservation. Meals are quickly cooled to 41° F or below, and immediately sealed with the FlavorPac™ brand sealing. No artificial preservatives are used.
CHEF TERI
Teri Hull, CEC originally hails from Ohio. After graduating with her BS in Communication from the University of Cincinnati in 1996 she moved to Portland, OR where she spent ten years in various brand marketing roles for two of the world's largest athletic footwear brands. Burnt out and exhausted from living on the road (where, albeit she enthusiastically enjoyed eating at some of the world's best restaurants) she followed her passion and traded the corporate life for culinary school. She graduated from The Western Culinary Institute, a Le Cordon Bleu school magna cum laude in 2008. Inspiration for The Good Plate came from a combination of her passion for all things food and nutrition and personal experience. After coming home from a long day of work she, like many others found it exhausting to think about feeding her three teenage step-children. With the help of her husband she set out to meet a great market need with healthy, convenient meals for busy people. Teri is now located in Vancouver, WA and enjoys farmers markets, running, yoga, sailing, wine, music and spending time with family and friends.
